North Road Partnership has been running for eighteen months and is moving forward steadily. We have a number of projects running and are working well towards the action plan that the Partnership has formed which has enabled us to prioritise our issues and to work towards our goals for the area.
Some of the issues and projects that we are involved in:
Coffee Morning aimed at the older residents to encourage social interaction and to help the Partnership to share ideas and to get feedback about its projects. We meet fortnightly at Havelock Centre 10.00 am, everyone welcome.
A Community Building is something that the North Rd area is lacking and is an issue that the Partnership feels strongly about addressing. We are working with children’s services to see how community access to the old Rise Carr School building will be possible when they reopen the school as a pupil referral unit. We hope that this will be a community hub and will have many points of access for local people of all ages.
Young people’s issues are a prominent part of the Partnership, we are keen to support and promote their activities in order to give young people a voice and make them feel part of a wider community. We have received a grant of £6000 to do some project work with young people and to give them something to do in the area. We hope that this will be a way of engaging them with their community and look at what it can offer them or could in the future. If you are keen to get involved in this project let us know.
The Park is another place that residents are keen to support and regenerate. We work closely with the Friends of North Park Group and often have joint events.
The people that are involved in the Partnership are very committed and are passionate about their area. We hope to have new members joining us, so please feel free to come along to any meeting you can, you will be warmly welcomed.
