Since formally constituting in November 2004, the new Management Committee of the Lascelles Community Partnership has worked hard to develop their 5 year Action Plan - pdf document. This Partnership is currently working hard to deliver on this Action Plan.
Lascelles is certainly ‘on the up’
- A new play park has been built and was formally opened by the Mayor in 2005.
- A new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at Dodmire Junior School was completed in October 2005 and is now available for use by the local community.
- A new Nursery has been built at St Johns Primary School and is now welcoming 3 year olds. New fencing has made the School more secure.
- Positive Parenting at Dodmire Infant School is going from strength to strength with participation levels at an all time high. Stay 'n' Play sessions run on a weekly basis and these are proving to be very popular.
- Tom Beales, the Zone Active Project Co-ordinator is working hard to improve the take up of sport and physical activity in the wards of Lascelles, Eastbourne and Park East.
- Its an exciting time at Rosemary Court. The building is to receive a three-story extension to the rear. On the upper floors there will be 14 extra care flats. On the ground floor there will be a lounge, a coffee/ tea bar, a restaurant, a shop and a hairdressers. All the original flats are to be completely refurbished with new kitchens and new bathrooms and lots more. All these improvements will mean that Rosemary Court will be able to provide independent living accommodation that will meet the individual needs of residents.
- There are exciting plans in store too for a Children Centre Outreach Facility at Dodmire Junior School. The new build is already underway and it is anticipated that services for families with children under 5 should be available from July 2006.
