Carmel College was formed in 1974, with the amalgamation of St. Mary's Boys School and the Immaculate Conception School for Girls. It continues the long tradition of educational excellence dating back to the early 1920's. In September 1995, Carmel was selected to be a specialist Technology College. With extensive refurbishment Carmel is now in the process of having a new hall and Technology Centre being built in the attractive and extensive grounds in the west end of Darlington.
A new main hall is being constructed at the front of the College, and a state of the art Technology Centre is being built at the back of the College. Our old hall has been converted in to a Resource/Learning Centre, and two classrooms are due to be converted into state of the art training facilities for Adult Education. All of this work is due to be finished by Spring 2004.
