This team is responsible for reducing the impact of Drugs and Alcohol on the people of Darlington. By combining the two issues the team are jointly responsible for tackling drug associated crime including burglary, car crime and violent crime along with anti-social behaviour associated with abuse of alcohol. They also take a proactive lead in education strategies aimed at reducing use of drugs and alcohol, especially amongst young people.
The issue of the impact on Darlington of the use and abuse of alcohol has been recognised by Darlington Partnership as a priority for action. Alcohol Concern have been commissioned to undertake an extensive study on the effect alcohol abuse has on Darlington. The results of this piece of work will be published in Spring 2004 and will result in a partnership response to its findings.
